For the past eleven weeks we have hosted three consulations for Newry, Mourne and Down district council to gather your views and opinions. See below the three consultations and speak up.

The draft Irish Language Strategy 2023-2027 sets out the Council’s Mission, Vision, Strategic Objectives and Positive Actions for the next four years.

Newry, Mourne & Down District Council’s draft Equality Action Plan 2023-2027 

Council has developed a draft action plan to promote equality of opportunity and good relations.  This will enable Council to identify potential functional areas for further or better discharge of its Section 75 duties and inform its key strategic actions.The Council’s draft Equality Action Plan 2023-2027 builds upon our action plan for the period 2020-2023

Consultation on the draft Disability Action Plan 2023-2027 Newry, Mourne and Down District

Section 49A of the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 (as amended by Article 5 of the Disability Discrimination (NI) Order 2006) places duties on public authorities, when carrying out their functions, to have due regard to the need to:

Promote positive attitudes towards disabled people; and Encourage participation by disabled people in public life. These are collectively referred to as ‘the disability duties’.

PEACEPLUS

PROJECT CLOSING SOON. HAVE YOUR SAY!

What is PEACE and PEACEPLUS?

PEACEPLUS is the next phase of the PEACE programme. With four successive Peace Programmes having been delivered across Northern Ireland and the Border Counties since 1995, almost €2.3billion has been allocated to fund approximately 22,500 peace building initiatives and projects.

NMD District Council have established a PEACEPLUS Partnership, and the allocation of funding for the NMD area will be in the region of €8.6 million (£7.6 million) to deliver the PEACEPLUS local area action plan.

The PEACEPLUS Action Plan once established will enable diverse partnerships to deliver priority actions for their local areas and collectively address these in a manner which will make a significant and lasting contribution to peace and reconciliation. The action plan will be centred around three core themes:

  • Local community regeneration and transformation
  • Thriving and peaceful communities
  • Building respect for all cultural identities

    Downpatrick Living High Streets Initiative

    Downpatrick is piloting a new Living High Streets Initiative aimed at reimagining the town centre.

    The Downpatrick Regeneration Working Group are working with the Ministerial Advisory Group (MAG) for Architecture and the Built Environment for Northern Ireland who has co-designed a Living High Streets Craft Kit in response to the challenges faced by traditional high streets. Downpatrick will be one of the first places to put the craft kit into practice.

    In the first survey the group are asking you to tell them about Downpatrick and your ideas for the future.

    In March there will be a 2nd survey to ask you how you would prioritise the emerging ideas and tell them which ones are important to you? So keep an eye out for our future news posts.

    DTNI Connect is coming soon.

    We are currently developing a new section of our engagement platform. DTNI Connect will enable us us to engage with more groups and public sector bodies across NI.

    Our aim for the new page is to attract interesting projects and connect with people from diverse communities, ages and backgrounds to encourage them to have their say on matters that are important to them. We want give them the opportunity to Connect Me, Connect You and Connect Us.
